I had someone tell me the recently that we should do more 'Color' challenges again. Personally, I thought those had been beat to death, but maybe I was wrong?
So, to help with future challenge considerations, I'd like to know ...
What challenges DON'T you like, and why?
Edit to add - please don't discuss any current challenge that is in, or about to go into, the voting stage. Thanks.

I guess the easiest might be to analyze the median score and the number of entries for the last few months. For example, the medians for Pet Peeves II and Authority II were 5.65 and 5.34, entries 17 and 14. The highest non FS, non Archival and non DPL recently were - Architecture XIII 6.03, 30 and Juxtaposition V 6.01, 27. On this very small sample my conclusion is that contrary to complaints some old challenge themes played multiple times in the past please participants more than the rather unusual ones.
Personally I think it would be best to put all themed challenges into a random draw and let the chance decide. There will be still complaints but "the chance" cannot please everyone ;) |

The unusual challenges may not be popular, but they are absolutely necessary for us to grow as photographers.
Nobody is required to partake in every challenge, and for those are ready to step out of their comfort zone and test their creativity, will be rewarded with increased skill and a broader understanding of photography. I am new here on DPC even though I originally registered in 2008, and I find it exhilarating when I get the chance to push my luck/skills on a theme I'm insecure about. I have been having lots of fun these past few weeks, blowing the dust off my gear and finding photography exciting again as I did 20 years ago. I'm thankful for all the work your Site Council puts in maintaining DPC, I know how demanding and unthankful sometimes it can be to manage a public forum. I like how diverse the challenges are, they will keep me busy for sure. Keep up the good work!
