Write about Architecture as I am a bit lost about the connection. Motion is more obvious. I like it a lot but I would not include the gun, that's my personal preference for many reasons. |
I was using architecture in a non-literal sense, rather than creating something with buildings and physical structures, it was more the act of building the image, putting it together piece by piece, I had to assemble each strip of paper, paint splash, etc., it started to feel like I was really building something as I went along and as it got more intricate. At first I was going to use actual buildings somehow and make a collage around that, but that wasn't what came out or what I was interested in, so it was this instead!
Yeah I go back and forth on the gun because it's not anything I'm comfortable with and don't support, but it's the photographers work and I wanted to stay true to that, and it made me think about what the photo was about - is it meant to be cool and glamourous? I mean it clearly is, which I find insane. My added elements sort of play with that idea, the black and white bubbles attempt to soften and make fun of that idea, to almost stop the motion of the gun. Anyway, I think it's good to think about what it means and the culture around images like this, and be uncomfortable about it and talk about it. |

Building this set involved modifying an existing winter landscape, adding outside table, deer, snowman, rocks and paving. Then building the house and its interior, decorating inside, starting the fire and finding a scanned sitting girl. Unfortunately I could not find one wearing winter clothes. |
lovely, that was very nice, had a great cozy feel to it |

Thanks, Nancy. It is really interesting to read about your creative process. It is much more involved than I thought.
Did you post more images with descriptions? I thought I saw them earlier.
I am away from home till the end of January hence nothing new from me. I am trying to do something on the laptop but find it difficult.

It can be very involved for sure and it sparks a fire in me most times! I love it :)
No I didn't post anything else. Back to work now after the holidays and busy and no time for art. Boooo. :(
Hope you're doing something enjoyable during your time away. |

| Since it is just two of us on this Side Challenge I thought I will change the rules again and make no restriction on the challenge theme as long as it is not currently in voting. Any past DPC theme can be used as the subject and inspiration. The way to find themes is to look at Challenge History and use the browser's Search to find themes to Unleash Your Creativity! :) |

The Squirrel Explosion
Notes: We went on a local winter hike on Saturday when the visibility was too poor to ski. We walked up to the bird feeder house and we were shocked! The ending of my previous squirrel video from last year proved to be visionary! There is an explosion of squirrels feeding on bird food! They are everywhere doing acrobatics to get to all forms of bird food. At the same time they are very playfool, I guess the bird food makes them happy ;)

Skyville
Notes: I got this Flying Fantasy Town set when it was free on Fab Marketplace. A truly fantastic asset. Later I got the little girl and recently a bunch of cute animated characters.
I made some modifications to the set, added lights and Volumetric Sky, placed cameras in the best places on the set, positioned the characters, and then started to think about the title and the names of characters. For some reason they all finished to start with the letter S - Stella, Sparky, Sizzle, Snappy and Swish living in Skyville. Next I thought about the title sequence and did a flythrough of the town to show that it is indeed in the sky, then filmed the introduction of the cast of cute characters doing silly animations :)
I really wanted good music to go with it and I found it! I contacted the French composer and he let me use his music for free! I was really happy with that. The link to his Youtube channel is in the description.
Finally I put it all together in DaVinci Resolve.
To be continued. At this stage I have no idea what happens to the characters next ;) |

Stella goes to market
Notes: After the whole 2 months I finally finished a scene !! It involved a lot of learning, getting upset by the world and life in general, as well as technical challenges. I won’t mention the world nor life but I will talk about the technical challenges that involved the upgrade of the graphics card on my desktop. Aaargh !!!
When I did this last time it took about half an hour – turn off the computer, disconnect cables, open the side panel, undo one screw, lift off the old card, put the new one in, do up one screw, and reassemble the desktop. Not any more !! The new card takes 4 slots on the motherboard, is 50% longer and weighs 2.5 kg! I had to remove all my HDDs as there was no longer any space for them. I finished installing my 20TB harddisk (the biggest and most recent) upside down in a space usually reserved for an extra case fan. Then I was silly enough to use Google AI that recommended that I put my Samsung 990Pro into the first slot on the motherboard before I install my Noctua graphics card for better performance in Unreal Engine. That’s when my problems really started!
The whole job took 5 days! I managed to lose a screw, shear another, hit the motherboard with the enormous screwdriver while trying to remove the old graphics card, lose my first SDD due to the sheared screw, and with it I lost my main bootable Windows drive. I finally installed the new card and tried to boot the computer while using my old SDD in an external enclosure. Not a chance! I tried to download Windows install in Firefox and it told that it is not available in Switzerland! After some confusion I tried Edge and that worked. It seems Microsoft is OK with Switzerland ;)
Anyway, when I finally got back to my Unreal Engine project many days have passed. I continued with animations and multiple cameras till I got sick and tired of this scene and did something silly, see it for yourself ;)
To be continued with this erratic story and the unexpected that never seizes to amaze me ;) |
