At least that is what I will writting down on the form as I send it in for repair.
Anyone want to see what the inside of a lens looks likes? :)
I wish that I could give some cool story about what happened like...
... I was shooting in Las Vegas when I spotted Britney Spears...
or
... one of the sexy nude models that I was shooting ripped it from neck in a fit of passion ...
but no, it simply feel off the back of my truck because I was in a hurry and didn't set it down careful enough.
But I think I will run with the model story to everyone else!

Ouchy, and that's not a cheap lens to bust either. Bugger.
I'll second jbeazell's query, did the body take the knock OK? I assume it landed on the lens from this shot..
Cheers, Chris H.

A little super glue and it will be fine.

a friend of mine has the same camera and lens..he also just dropped his. However, it was in a bag and it just busted the UV filter - everything was intact. Lucky.
I've broken cheap lenses before....but...not L glass. Did you cry? Ah come on, you don't have to act tough around us!

I did not cry but I cursed for awhile. I'm more mad at myself than anything else since I am usually very careful about my equipment.
The body turns on and focuses fine but there is a crack above the CF card door. I would have sent the body in anyways just to make sure that everything is OK.
I guess the one good thing is that I was able to still cover the event that I was shooting since I had my 20D. I am more broken up about the lens than the camera but it will get fixed and I learned my lesson.
