Most of the people on this web site will direct you to either the Nikons or the Canons, but photographic life does exist outside of these makes of cameras. Olympus has their 4/3rds cameras (a new standard in lens mount, electronics and chip design) and Minolta has just come out with their new Maxim 7D camera, which has AS (anti-shake) technology. This basically has the same effect that Image stabilization lenses in Canon, and VR technology in Nikon lenses, have. The Olympus E-1 is very highly regarded by some professionals and amateurs alike, and they are coming out with a new E-300 camera, that is going to compete with the Canon Rebel. Sigma has the SD-10 using Foveon chip technology and Pentax also has the ist*D and ist*Ds cameras.
I'll leave it to the rest to tell you about the avalanche of information and recommendations you're going to get about the Nikons and Canons. Good luck in your quest. |

I was reading on high end cameras and found two gems that are worth saving for.
a. mamiya 645afd which has interchangable digi/film backs. awesome but there's a downside.. It's huge!
b. canon eos-1ds mark II; 16 megapixels and countless goodies and gadgets. This is the one for me.
