| If we're voting, I'd say raise the cap. I'd like the challenge of going against a higher percentile team anyway :) I used to be pretty bad here. Took me about 16 years before my first ribbon, although with a pretty long hiatus in there. |

I understand the original intention of the cap, but I'm with Justin. Raise the cap if that's what it takes. Let's just play! |

We're 3/4's of the way there already. Changing the rules now wouldn't be fair to those that have already made adjustments to what teams they're playing on last week when this was getting ramped up. The rules on the cap have been posted for a while now.
As for comparing to an 8 year-olds team play and everyone winning a prize - I find that slightly insulting. When this is all said and done there will be ONE winning team. The competition will be exciting and close and any team can win with a good run.

Personally I think it would be unfair to teams that have already been formed.
To Team Iceland - you can still shoot together even if you are on separate teams, especially if the goal is to play, and not to win ;) |

We will not be changing the rules for the current season, as doing so at this stage would be unfair to teams that have already formed under the existing guidelines. However, we are open to reviewing and possibly adjusting the capping rules for future seasons.
For context, in DPL5 the cap was set at 67%, a threshold under which the current Iceland team would not have qualified. It’s also worth noting that capping is a common practice in many team-based sports leagues to ensure competitive balance and inclusivity.
Team Iceland - We kindly ask you to reconsider splitting into two separate teams. This would not only make room for additional photographers—potentially including more Icelanders with little or no prior DPC record—but also foster a more dynamic and engaging experience for all involved. Just imagine the excitement if your two Iceland teams were to meet in the finals!

The personal average is now calculated based on challenges completed by the DPL announcement date, so it won't change. Note that if your last addition was under 55%, it would have worked to bring the team average under 60%. |

From the DPL FAQ:
4 - How does the scoring work?
There are two parts to this:
Team Member Scores - Each week, there are two challenges that count for DPL - member (Sunday/Monday) and OPEN (Tuesday/Wednesday). Paid members may enter either or both, while registered members may enter the Open challenge. The 4 best scores of team members are averaged together to make the Team Score for that week. A team member may only contribute one score each week to the team score.
Team Scores - Once the team score has been calculated from the team member scores, the team with the highest score wins that week's match. |
I think I remember last time that the playoffs came quickly and people were surprised that there were only two teams in the playoffs. It was mentioned that you were, at the time, thinking about changing it up -- perhaps with two wildcard teams thrown in to the playoffs.
Will there be a chance for more than 2 teams to go to the playoffs? Maybe 4?

There was a suggestion that we split up our icelandic team and created two teams, taking in less experienced players. Well… now I have split up the team and it looks like this:

So even with the four lowest from the free agent pool, two on each team, we are still above the mark. I think it is unfair both to us AND to the players we take in, if we have to choose the lowest scoring players just to qualify. They will know why they were chosen and it is not fair to them and we cannot really have a say on what players to add to our team, as we are forced by numbers.
I really think this was badly planned from the very beginning, and the 55% cap supports that view. But... maybe we need to start posting random photos to competitions to lower our cap for future league competitions. And you don´t even see the absurdity in this???
I think the admins have lost focus, to be honest! |

But we are thinking if we will bring in new photographers, with 0 as score - that is allowed as I understand it?

Yes, new members are allowed as free agents. If they haven't entered a challenge their percent is 0.00. And they count as member in figuring your team percent. |

No. New users 0 percentile will be counted towards the team average. We need to check if this requires a code change, but this is the intention. |

We are in. Decided to split up our team and join. We will invite some new people to join our teams.
We dont have much time so this is going to be a little last minute but hope we can make it.
