What you need: clylindrical oatmeal box - painted black inside and 3/8" drilled hole in the side, 2" square cut from aluminum pop can - pierced with a needle. Sturdy paper (file folders work well) to make shutter and guides for shutter. Electrical tape.
What to do: Tape the aluminum piece inside the oatmeal box so that the pinhole is centered over the drilled hole (be sure it is light tight), make the shutter by folding a 1"x2" piece folder like a W. Make shutter guides by cutting two 1"x6" strips of folder and taping one above and the other below the drilled hole. Slide the shutter into the guides (the middle fold is the handle for moving the shutter).
To use camera: In darkroom, place one sheet of photo paper into camera, opposite the pinhole (make sure your shutter is closed) put the lid on tightly. To take a picture, aim the hole at your subject (don't let the camera move) slide the shutter open for about 2 minutes, close the shutter. Remove and process the paper in a darkroom.
