A friend of mine recently joined DPC and has been making efforts to improve his photography for just the past few weeks. He is already getting comments from his friends and family who are amazed by the quality of his photos and wonder how he has been able to capture such wonderful images. This made me realize and appreciate just how good the photographers on this site really are. Of course, there's always room for everyone to improve, but most people who post their photos on this site have learned a number of techniques that have made them much better photographers than they were before they came here.

I'll bet that almost every single member of this site is the best photographer that their friends and family know - certainly in the top 2 or 3. That's a real accomplishment! I'll also bet that the vast majority of members here are already embarrassed by some of their first challenge or portfolio entries because of the improvements that they've made in their photography since coming here. That's really great and each person who feels that way should be proud of their abilities and the improvements that they've made.

So I just wanted to say congratulations to all of you who continue to get raves from your loved ones for that outstanding photo you took, but which finished in the bottom half of the last DPC challenge. The people that you care about the most are in awe of how great your pictures always turn out. And each of us will keep improving the more we practice and the more we learn from the examples of the many incredibly talented photographers on this site. I sincerely appreciate all of the help that everyone's comments, examples and tutorials have given me and I hope to continue to learn more from all of the truly amazing people who participate on this site.

It's an even BIGGER accomplishment to have people think you're good when you consider that digital cameras really have made everyone and their dog into a photographer. The playing field has definetly expanded.

It's true, this site is amazing, I must admit I've had my personal petty issues on here but if I take a step back and see how far I've come, how the opinons of those around me have changed, the fact that I'm now considered a 'photographer' rather than 'a guy that like to take pics' is simply astounding.

I've advanced at a level could not dream about, when compared to regular academic means, though I still have and endless path ahead of me (thanks jjbeguin - your inspiration is endless). Thank you very much D&L, I'm forever indebted.

I neglected to specifically thank Drew and Langdon and the rest of the Site Council for their help in starting and maintaining such a great learning site. Thanks everyone!

Not following you around Phill honest...lol

But I have to agree with what you say. I was really (still am) such a bad photographer before joining this site and picking up tips and hints on how to improve not only my shooting skills but also post processing as well which, as we all know, can make or break a photograph.

Ide like to think that my photography has improved and YES my friends/family have noticed the improvement too, I have to really put it down to members here who have taken the time to explain how they get such wonderfull results and I for one SALUTE them.
