Until few years ago I have never thought that climate change will happen in my lifetime. We moved from Australia to Switzerland to escape hot climate. Now Swiss farmers started to grow Mediterranean plants like olives and we had to have air conditioning installed to cope with Swiss summer heat. So far we have managed to adapt but we did not expect this.

In 1977 I decided to escape the totalitarian regime that was then imposed on Poland by the Soviet Union. My first choice was to migrate to Canada, I am pleased that in 1979 I chose Australia instead. Until a year ago I would not have believed that America will become an imperialistic totalitarian regime in my lifetime. I am not yet sure how to adapt to this.

I no longer want to know what you Americans think about your president because I don't think it will make any difference. This is my last post in this thread.

It's been a year. A long, scary one. But It is not the end of the US. Things will even out. We just have to hold out, speak out, and do what we can.

I think you're wrong.
Trump 45 was a dress rehearsal. Now that every position is filled with sycophants, some with actual intelligence (Miller), there's no turning back.

It was a fun experiment while it lasted.

Yes. And no. Countless protests throughout the country, over and over, weekend after weekend, hundreds of thousands of apparently "paid agitators", and to what end? Still the Orange One sits on his throne and threatens every institution that once made America great. The only things thriving at the moment are hate and fear. I'm not sure what the hell Congress is doing except rolling over and playing dead, to be honest. And the Supreme Court seems intent on giving his Highness whatever he wants. And now because he's pissed about the Kennedy Center, he's going to destroy that, too. Yay. Glorious time to be alive, yes?

I'm going to hold out hope until September, then IDGAF. I have concert tickets for September, IF the group is allowed to come (they are not American) - we shall see.

Since my last post earlier today Trump said on a podcast that the US should nationalize and take over elections in 15 locations. (I guarantee they're all blue counties).

I've been predicting he'd eventually declare martial law and suspend the election since his first term.

He might want to note that an allied democracy -- South Korea -- recently sentenced their former President to death for declaring martial law illegitimately.

On a possibly lighter(?) note, with baseball season around the corner, I expect that any day now he'll sign an executive order requiring singing all four stanzas of our "big beautiful anthem" before each game.

I think you mean verses and he has no clue there's more than one verse. If anything he's going to replace the anthem with YMCA

p.s. a little research reveals that Francis Scott Key would indeed have considered them stanzas, but don't tell Trump it was a poem first.
