I am baffled. If someone needs to vote a 1 or 2 they should comment. I know this is subjective but seriously.I received a 1, 2 and 4. I try not to let low votes bother me, unfortunately on this one, I am bothered. There is no explanation so how do I improve or grow?
End Rant. |
It definitely was not me, but perhaps someone(s) wanted the tip of the nose in focus? That's all I can think of. |

If that theory is correct, it suggested the voter wanted a broader depth of field for the challenge with the theme Shallow Depth of Field. |

The 1 and 2 are probably those who think pets score too highly in general, and so they "must" downvote to balance it out. |

Maybe they have a phobia about dogs/pets/German Shepherds?
I still miss our old gal ... , but at least we still have one in the family to visit ... |

I didn't vote in this challenge and I wouldn't have given it a 1 or 2 by any means. However, if you want feedback I would say that the lighting is very bland overall and the composition does not draw me in. It's an almost centered composition but not quite. And the big empty space on the right hand side doesn't serve any purpose for me. To me it looks like a good photo of a german shepherd that has a high enough technical quality to be used for stock. I think it's lacking something that could distinguish it from one of millions of random pet snapshots.

It said to create an original design for a postage stamp. I assume that people think you took a photo of a real stamp, not that you created an original stamp. It's a very clever photo -- maybe too clever so that it looked too real? |

Thank you to everyone who replied
Briley is the youngest of my 6 GSDs, I appreciate the feedback. I am always looking to get better no matter what I am shooting.
