Oh yeah. It'll do good things for that image. Just be careful not to soften the hard details. Sometimes people select the background and export it as a separate image that goes through NeatImage, and then layer it back into the original. that's extreme usage though. Normal NI application on the entire shot will have a very positive effect.

I didn't play with it for very long because I found the selective gaussian blur in GIMP to be all I needed, so I won't be able to help you with settings. I'd suggest just going in and trying different things until you get an effect you like.

do you use the N70 downloadable profile?

It's worth downloading the instructions, they will help to understand exactly what should be set to where, and the results. But, yes, NI will help that picture.

Just dupe your layer, apply NI, then add a layer mask and airbrush in/out areas as appropriate.

When using the trial version, keep in mind that it saves the results as a low quality jpeg, so introduces compression artifacts. To avoid that, you have to purchase the product. Then you can save as a high quality jpeg or, even better, a tiff.

I guess that assumes you have a NI PS plugin... Much easier than my original suggestion, but not an option for me since NI doesn't have a GIMP plugin. Adds a bit of extra import/export for me, but it's not really a big deal since I don't need to remove noise very often.
