I really like to have my posts in forums in the order of first first and last/latest at the end, but that can take a lot of scrolling. Is there any way of just jumping to the latest/newest post? (jump to newest unread would be ideal).

Not surprisingly, this has been brought up many times -- but so far no resolution.

Can you not just click the 'reverse' link at the top right?

... and what? read backwards until it sounds familiar? Sorry, but that still requires a search for the last read message before being able to read, and then adds having to read from bottom to top to keep the posts in proper order. Sorry, but although this is what is suggested everytime it comes up, it is not a solution to the problem.

Don't snap at me, man. Looking at the first post it seemed like he wanted the first post first. The problem isn't being explained very well...

Sorry if you took that as me snapping at you, it was not intended to be taken in that manner. I was just asking how that solved the problem of having to scroll (and potentially the correct page) to find where a person last left off in a thread, while still being able to read them in the correct order.
Peace.

And while we're at it can we have a link directly to Whatched Threads from posting in another thread.
At the moment you have to got back to My Home then click on Whatched Threads, then click on the next Whatched Thread.
So to partly hi-jack your thread.

ok a better explanation of the problem.
In an active and long thread (like the current Everyone and Their Mother...How You Doin' in B&W? which for me is already 4 pages long (with 50 posts per page) it is a bit difficult to keep up with it.
Why? Because there are a lot of people posting and replying to previous posts so to understand what is going on you need/should read all the posts in the right order. So far no problem (except that there are about 200 posts so reading all that takes time). But I'm not in that thread all the time and if, let's say, 10 people post I'd like to read those in the right order and now there starts to be a little problem. I don't want to read the first 200 again and reversing the order (newest first or reverse replies) always confuses me.
So I, obviously, could try to remember where I was, which is OK if I'm still reading the first 200 posts (i.e. 3rd page, halfway down) but not useful if I'm at the newest post (i.e. end of 4th page).
So what I'd like is:
a) a quick bookmark thingie that takes me straight to the newest post and I just work my way backwards till I find a familiar post and read on (in the right order) from there, or better yet:
b) a link to the newest unread post so I can jump straight into where I left off. I've seen that in many other forums (but I have no idea how it's done og how difficult I'd be to do that here)
I hope the problem seems clearer now. I did a quick search of the forus but didn't find any direct suggestions to do this, but I'm sure this has come up many times and now has a thread of it's own

and to hi-jack my own thread :)
a total number of posts per thread on the main page
i.e. Everyone and Their Mother...How You Doin' in B&W? 200 posts 10 new posts

If you raise the number of posts/page in your preferences you can reduce the number of pages. So to get to the last page for many threads all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the page.
The max is currently 200, so it doesn't completely remove the problem for bigger threads, but it still helps.
