Post your outtakes from the Abandoned VII (DPL5-9) challenge here. |

Entry
I knew beforehand that my outtakes would have been better received, one of them did well in the freestudy. I went with something different and humorous anyway.

Good to change it up every so often. And true, I would have voted either of your outtakes higher than a 6.

Curious if my outtake would have done better.

Apparently, I overlooked voting on this topic or I'd tell you what I gave it. My bad. I think the entry is pretty darn good and conveys the idea of an abandoned person. Not understanding how it only pulled a 5.4. I think if the outtake were to do better it would only be because more people perceived it as fitting the topic. |

Good point thanks. I was thinking 5.4 felt fairly low, but DPL averages are generally lower. |

I think the entry more obviously fits the topic (the light inside the outtake suggests to me it is currently occupied/in use) but also that some voters are "uncomfortable"(?) with nudity ... |

Entry:
Outake 1: and Outtake 2:
I was on the road with limited editing. Time of day for various shots was hit and miss. I would, for example, have loved a moody sky for the shipwreck but alas, that was not to be. As it was, I had a long wait to get a shot that was free of people as kids (and adults) clamber over this wreck like it's a jungle gym. I could quite easily have been persuaded to go with Battery 1 as I love images with strong geometric design elements, but I knew the image quality was terrible and personally could not get past that.
Not a bad result on the entry, but would either of the others have fared better?

I really liked your entry, but I see several technical issues that may have lowered the score. The image focus is very soft, and not in an "artsy" way. I think a square crop without all the empty space at the top would have worked better. And finally, his feet are invisible, which is just odd. |

I think you made the right choice with this one:
Of the others, I like the up-close tractor best, probably because the other two are over-processed for my taste, even for the challenge topic. |

Excellent thoughts, really appreciate the feedback! |

I think the one you submitted would score the best of the 3. But that also could be simply my opinion because I'm familiar with that shipwreck. (and indeed impressive to wait until no-one was climbing on it!) |

I feel like they are over-processed in my opinion as well. I do like the middle of the tower but don't think it would have scored better than your entry. |

I like to play around before I submit. Though I used to be an egregious "Topaz Tommy", I found that those methods of processing get old fast and they raise negative feelings in most photographers.
Thanks for the feedback!
