Going through the same ground as on the other thread (how bad AI is, AI won Sony award) instead of trying to use it creatively. |

AI is a problem.
Look at what happened with Drake and the Weeknd. Regardless if you like them or not, a song was created without their permission.
It's copyright infringement, no different than AI creating art from derivative work. |

As the thread's creator, you're the one that directs the thread and keeps it on topic. If you want people to post imagery, inspire them by posting your own, and leading the discussion on it.
Starting a SC challenge/thread on AI, is like calling a meeting. People expect he person calling the meeting to lead it. |

Wow. A good defense is a strong offense it appears (send an invoice and threaten a lawsuit).
This is likely to be muddy water for some time I'll bet. Side note: I wonder how many DPChallenge images were used in the "training" library of images? |

After reading the article I decided to upload an image I know has been used a lot in memeĂ¢€™s etc and found it among many others of a similar subject have been used to Ă¢€˜trainĂ¢€™ AI. Of course, I have known that loading images on to the internet opens up to this but I am going to take some time to think about how I feel about all this.
Want to check for your own Ă¢€” here is a link:
Have your photos been used

It was in the DQ list last night - not going to share who it was from since it appears that council doesn't want it out there but although it appears to have met the eye candy requirement; it did not fool all. I hope they visit this thread and share what the purpose of entering such an image.

I didn't think it would fool anyone - I suspect the one who entered it didn't either. But I like it when someone shakes things up a little around here. ;-) |

Your idea of "shaking things up a little" includes entering a challenge with an image you KNOW is illegal just to see what response it gets? |

that's certainly my idea of shaking things up a little.
But you removed the image completely? That sounds like a state of denial about what's coming.
p.s. I remember when some miscreant entered a Henri Cartier-Bresson photo into a challenge. He did not face any consequences.

That's probably the tamest of my ideas of shaking things up. :P |

Jejeje. Anyway, the image hasn't been "removed", it's just not in voting anymore because it is not a legal image. It'll show up again as a DQd image after the voting is tallied.
For the record: As long as this is explicitly a digital photography site, AI entries will not be considered legal. For one, they don't have EXIF. This exclusion has nothing to do with support for or rejection of the technology. |

As a side-note, Ansel entries and Cartier-Bresson entries have been "sanctioned" by SC because it seemed like simple fun. Deliberately entering images that do not meet the date requirements or any other of the applicable rules to "see how they do" has never been allowed for the membership. It's potentially very disruptive if we set a precedent of allowing it.
If the community WANTS to encourage guerrilla forays into the challenges, then we'd love to hear that. Certainly, if we get a significant majority of the community saying "We should be able to enter whatever we want into whatever challenge we want to put it in regardless of the constraints of that particular challenge, and let SC figure out who's legal after voting's over!" well I guess we'd have to discuss it, but it sounds a bit chaotic to me. If only because the images that don't make the top 5 would forever be suspect since we'd have no way of knowing... you get the idea.
DPC is sort of founded on the principle that we have established rules and have agreed to play by them. A little tomfoolery isn't the end of the world, obviously, but a DQ will always be the result.

https://www.adobe.com/sensei/generative-ai/firefly.html
I joined the beta but got this:
"We have received your application for the Adobe Firefly beta program and we're working hard to get you access!
We have received A LOT of interest in joining the Firefly beta. Users are being admitted on a rolling basis and we will notify you via email if you're accepted."
PS They could do with improving the wording of this email with ChatGPT ;)

Well, to a certain extent, it did fool me. Admittedly it was my favourite for the challenge, I didn't think of an AI generated image at all.
But there were a few things that kind of make me wonder:
- How did he or she get that bunch of handsome girls and guys with that hairstyle together within the timeframe of the challenge?
- Where did he get all those perfect 70ies clothes in the right size?
- Somehow the reflections in the sunglasses were not quite right.
- And then there was this shine on the hand of the front girl's hand - are these all mannequins?
I think the times where photos were kind of a proof of what happened are definitly over. I have to be much more distrusting regarding photos from now on (not on DPC, but in general). |

I don't see any DQs in the 70's challenge. Color me confused. |

There's some SC confusion on the status of this image. Bear with us while we iron it out. |

For me it was the hairy long neck on the girl, disproportionately large googly eyes behind the sunglasses and the distorted/pinched noses - beyond all that the clothes were laying way too perfect and the hands lacked detail and some where distorted. |
