Just a little curious on how you did this. Did you have to create 3 different files, each coloured on the duotone you wanted plus the original colour (and blured) image to lay the 3 coloured sections? Or did you manage to make it within one image using 4 different layers? If so, how do you manage to get the differnt duotones settings within one image?

I hope my question is clear. It is getting late. I'm going to bed, and I'll check in in the morning.

As I said earlier, very nice image and great technique. Thanks to LOKI for showing it to us.

You can create an adjustment layer with a certain hue/saturation adjustment and then use a mask on that layer so that it only applies to a certain area of the photo. Then you can add another adjustment layer with a different hue/saturation and mask that to a different section of the photo, etc.

More simply you could just select each area and apply the hue/saturation to that area only.

I would sure love to see a 'how'd the do that' tutorial from your work! i've been toying with CS, trying to achieve the same results, but i'm having difficulties.

While the execution is perfectly competent, I really don't like this kind of treatment - it's way too gimmicky. I might expect to see it used on a low-budget calendar, postcard or poster but I'd never hang something of that style.

Looking at Loki's shot I find myself wanting to get past the irritation of the borders and panels to see the good shot behind it.

No offence - just my thoughts on the subject. : )

you make a selection and right click and "layer via copy".. do it 3 times or as many tiems as you wish.. adjust hue and saturation of each layer.. and adjust layer properties..

I found I was not getting the duotone results using this method. I tried again and used the colorize feature within saturation and that worked pretty well but added some noise to the images. I'll keep plugging away and post something later on.

Thanks!
