Made me look up the histogram of mine ... looks high-key to me ...

Is a histogram enough to determine high key? (I'm seriously asking - because it does show that there's not a lot of deep shadows...)

I actually lightened the shadow areas -- I was going for "as light as possible while retaining sufficient detail" ... I'll try to post an alternate edit later.

let us also remember that fulfilling the challenge is not enough to get a high score.

I definitely considered yours high key -- it met the challenge just fine. But I'm afraid I didn't find it interesting. I want to be amazed or amused or confused or something with a photo. But there was no story here, or interaction. Even a more interesting POV would have helped get me intrigued.

Totally agree.
If the challenge is about a potato it is not enough for me to mark with highest score even a perfect stock image of a potato.
Meeting the challenge is important but an image should have relevance in itself.

Heck, maybe we should amend Posthumous's challenge suggestion description to "Hang your photo of a potato in a gallery" :-) Then we could all justify our potatoes...

I've actually used other views of this lion at least twice before -- as you say, it's not that interesting a sculpture, but it's a good "target" (in a decent location) for a high-key photo. I guess in this case my priority was working on the technique ... here's a higher-contrast version with darker darks and accompanying histogram.

Is potato.

Fun idea. Could become as epic as five grapes and a rubber ducky with two light sources.
