I was just now working on my computer, trying to reorganize some folders. I moved several folders holding approx 1.0-1.5 gigs of files from one directory in a partition to a new folder in the same partition. Suddenly, before my very eyes, two partitions dissappeared. When I tried to access any program file (in partition labeled as drive d:) I got an error saying that due to restrictions on my machine, it could not preform the request. Thinking I had a windows meltdown, I rebooted. Now my second and third partitions are gone and replace with an 'unknown' partition the size of the two missing partitions put together...
Details. Drive in question is a 200g hitachi drive. Originally partitioned into one 10 gig part. for windows 98se, one 130 gig part. for programs, one 60 gig part. for photo files. Now I only have a windows partition and an 'unknown' partition (according to drive manager software that came with the drive) that is 190g in size...
HELP... How do I get my system back...

Hopefully this can help. I've never personally used it, but it can't hurt at this point methinks.

Ugh. Doesn't sound good. If it was me, I would try downloading the demo of 7tools Partition Manager and see what it can find. It is a pretty powerful program...
Good luck! |

TC, you have to do what EddyG recommended. It's the only way to recover from this. Good luck!
