I did do some reading on this and the Neo is supposed to be faster, but from what I can see, pretty much the same?

I went to a pretty rough workshop and sat with my thumbs twiddling, as no one told me I needed this. So that was super =(

Also, any thoughts on if it will happily work in CS5?

I also do not have Lightroom (they used that exclusively as well)

((( Here is the Instructors answer when I asked what the difference between the two of them was"

Robert
Luminar NEO has added some more AI.

Like I know what means =\

I've been using Luminar 4, and recently downloaded Neo (Skipped AI). I had preordered it for $35. It is quite incomplete and I have to make further adjustments to my workflow to suit what it can do. I'll try it again after some further updates, but for now I have gone back to L4.

The AI function is actually odd. I can make AI adjustments to something and then come back and apply them again over the first adjustment.

I don't know about integration into Lightroom or Photoshop, as I don't use those.

Thanks Yo_Spiff !!

I have a vague feeling that this Luminar is a photographers dirty secret, the amount of info I can find from people who I know have it and other photo groups, is pretty much zero.

We shall see, I ordered it, so will see what happens!

I've upgraded from L4, to AI, to Neo. Huge difference between L4 and AI, not so much between AI and Neo. Neo added two functions: spot removal and power line removal, both of which need significant improvement to be at all useful. I preferred the L4 interface to the AI one (overly complicated), and was glad to see they reverted to the simpler interface in Neo.

But AI was a terrific tool, and really improved my workflow. it's not perfect (what filer is...), but I use it a lot.

I don't know anything about the integration with other programs aspect, and will leave that to those more techie than I.
