i've been a member for a very, very short while. as a matter of fact as short as my experience with photography. that you can see in my scores to date. i'm sorry if i offend the "Oh Great Masters" with my presence through my presentations. sorry, but you will have to bear with me for some time to come for i enjoy doing what i am doing.

one request, though, is it at all possible to be constructive in giving feedback? surely as mature, hopefully well mannered and reasonably experienced members we can adopt a simple motto of "feedback for improvement"? am i a pussy? i'm i too sensitive? SURELY, THERE WHERE TRUELY HELPFUL AND POSITIVE FEEDBACK AS WELL.....for that i honestly am greatful. BUT BUT BUT....

may i please be heard, just this time.... if you can not nurture, at least don't hurt. and i'm sure i'm not the only member who would appreciate this suggestion. there are more of me out there and i'm sure less of the "Oh Great Masters".

watch my next presentations, for they will be there..... :) (see, i'm not really a pussy!)

dude, like 95% of your comments you've received were constructive. Things like focus, and lighting, composition. Even the folks that 'didn't see a connection' to make it fit the challenge. If one person says they didn't see a connection, you can assume they just can't see it but when 20 people actually leave a comment saying they can't see the connection, I'd say the connection isn't quite clear.

Stop complaining about the comments you've received...take it like a man and grow from it and improve. If you have something personal to say to someone, take it to an IM, but from what I can see, 95% of your comments seem helpful to me and just the fact that they took the extra 20 seconds to type that in there to give you some feedback should make you appreciative.

gibun,
It's really hard to take any harsh critizisms. look at these to crappy photos of mine, but I also get ribbons too. I'm still pretty new here myself (3 months) and the first few times i got bad feedback, it made me so freakin' mad, I almost stopped submitting. I had someone tell me: "I fully understand why someone would give this a 1...." nad in the forums the same person told me: "the fact that I think this photograph is ugly or what ever I might think doesnt make it ugly ..... If you are gonna take every comment and every vote on your submissions personal you´re gonna need a shrink:D"

After reading these crappy things, I was gonna just give in. But I basically said "fcuk it!"

Telling people to give constructive feedback doesn't work. Asking totally politely and letting people know that you won't be offended (even though you might be) works best.

Just my 2 cents. I hope you keep submitting, and show us all some moe of your work!
Peace,
E

P.S. here are my 2 lowest scored photos, They suck.

Hi there, new myself and still at the beginning of discovering taking photographs, love it ! :)

To be quite honest harsh comments can only help you to go further, become better. All your friends and family might tell you they like your photos, but to convince others is what you need to achieve and critizism is the best way to improve I find myself, so bring it on :)

You can only get better by making mistakes and you need people to tell you what they are
