Hey all, I was looking through some of the first landscapes I did with my D70, after some serious PS effort and some cropping, I came out with this...

Very nice. That would have been a great submission to the Silhouette Challenge. I really like the color and contrast. But the border? Sorry, I'm not very fond of it - but hey, that's just me.

The blue sky is great. I second the dislike of the border though.

Just wondering, are you not a fan of borders in general? or this particular border, and if so why? can only get better right?

I like the shot, even if the blue seems a bit too much.

The border, with its bright bright blue, distracts from, rather than complements the subject.

I'd just leave the simple black border and be done with it.

Hi-ho,

I'll put up another vote for a simple black border...

I sorta like this shot, but the blue is a bit much for my taste..

If it were me and I went that far with the sky, I'd remove all signs of colour from the trees, and make them solid black... Might as well completely cross the border between photography and digital art.. :-).

As always, just my 2c worth...

I'll put a second on ohmark's opinion. Change the color scheme to black and blue only. The border is ok with me however.

I like the photo. No.. I love the photo. The contrast of the B&W&Blue is great.

I'm not fond of the border either, and I don't hate borders. What I don't like about the border is the distracting blue. I think I know why you used blue and not just black. A just black border would disappear at the bottom. What I would have done is a 'Thin' border of a blue (darker shade of the same blue you used) and then the thicker blue border.

If it's okay, I can change the photo you posted and show you what I mean.

Overall - Awesome tree photo (I love trees!!!)

I like the image very much, a nice effect that. I quite like borders I know a lot of people don't.

Its much more common to see a photo or a painting hanging on a wall with a border than without.

The border you have is OK, it provides a definite edge to the image rather than just the black, into which the black trees etc would just merge.

The blue border does make it a particular 'kind' of shot though, it wouldn't hang well alongside more 'traditional' bordered images.

Great photo, pity about the border. You might want to try using a 1pix white inner with a black 5pix outer, which makes most dark photos stand out nicely IMO.
