This is quite general, but I am using a Olympus C-700 and I am having a terrible time getting anything to focus at a decent distance on my camera for macro shots. I can zoom at all on the shot and I am always to far away. Advice? Known problem with the camera?

I've got the same camera. The macro isn't too good. It's only good upto 4" & you're supposed to have the zoom all the way wide... The macro's not that impressive, but I guess that's the price for the zoom.
