If you don't have one already, the 50 1.8 is and absolute must have for just $79. My new favorite lens is the 100mm 2.8 Macro. The only thing missing from this lens that doesn't qualify it as an L lens is that there is no Red stripe. Other than that, you'd be hard pressed to find a flaw in it.

There are a couple of L lenses that are not really that expensive: the 17-40 f/4 and the 70-200 f/4. Both are fantastic lenses, especially the 17-40. Seems to me they cost around $500-600 each. Add a 50mm 1.8 to cover they middle range, and you've got an awesome set of lenses.

Does anyone have any samples of the 17-40L? I keep putting it off because it's basically the same range as the kit lense and it's hard to justify the cost even if it is one of the cheapest L lenses. I know there are web sites with technical comparisons but I like to see real world sameples.

Sorry digistoune-

With the current Canon rebates, I got the Rebel Kit, EF 75-300mm IS, EF 50mm f1.4 lens for a little over $1100. Therefore, I think the pricing on your used equipment may be a little high.

Maybe so, maybe not :-) However, considering it's a package deal and I have taken excellent care of all of the equipment, I'm going to take my chances. Thanks for your concern though.
