Trying to improve and get a little more involved on DPC.
Would love to get some constructive criticism on a few shots.
I hope it's ok to post several. Thanks very much!

Hi how are you? I will be glad to give you my opinion on your photographs. They look good but there are a few things IMO I would change. Nothing major but just my opinion.
Picture 1: Good DOF but the lighting seems to be somewhat lacking to me. The yellow boarder draws my eye away from the subject that is in good focus. A good shot!
Picture 2: What can I say looks great, a misty look to it and I like the black and white it seems to go well with this photo. Couldn’t help but wonder what it would look like in color. Great Shot!
Picture 3: Love the color, focus, and lighting. Not to fond of the boarder but that a preference
Picture 4: Can’t access the larger version. But from thumbnail, good framing.

the yellow flower is a neat looking flower so you have a good subject , the lighting is a bit poor, perhaps you could get a little coser to it as well. colored borders dont go over to well here but it is more of a personal preference so i wouldnt worry about it.
the trees have good potential, with the fog in the background and all but there is nothing too catching here to hold my attention... when a scenerey pic is in black and white it should have a good focal point or mood to it since you are not focusing on color but again that is just my personal preference
the leaf seems to have some exposure problems and the color seems a bit unnatural, again it is just lacking that extra something...like most of mine do :)
your heading in the right direction with the last one but that isnt a very interesting looking grave yard but it is a cool wall, maybe if you got down on the ground and shot a pic of the sky though it
(i also could not open it, i can only see the thumbnail)
i am really not one to try and give "constructive comments" but i saw that noone else had commented so i though i would just give my 2 cents, i know it is frustrating when you go through all the trouble of setting up your post to not get a reply(well im late but you know what i mean)
the flower is my favorite, you should brighten it up a little

Thanks for the feedback. Greatly appreciate the constructive criticism. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Yes, I have seen photos with coordinating borders that I liked. But it seems a general consensus here that neutral black is a safe choice.
Certainly can alter the borders a tad.
I thought the yellow mum was nicely lit - I will try it lighter. (I may have darkened it by increasing sats).
Fixed the link to the cemetary.
Here is the b/w tree photo - original except for increased sat, contrast, lightened a bit.
It was a foggy day - really grey and overcast.
Thanks again!

Thank you for the feedback!
I adjusted the flower - border, light and sats.
Can't go back to do the flower as it was a few hours away. I can give the cemetary another try. I was trying to focus on the fall tree throught monument.
I really appreciate the help! |

I think the black and white version and the colored version look great. It depends what kind of mood you are looking for within the photograph. You might try to sharpen a little to see if you could bring out more detail in the tree trunks.
IMO the focus on your foreground [framing] subject is a little soft, I would like to see it a little sharper. Maybe put a little more distance between you and the foreground subject and take the picture at a lower angle to get more of the sky involved. I like the autumn colors and lighting. Is there a reason you took the picture from a sight angle instead of a straight on view?

Well, I would hope the feedback would be at least constructive - positive or negative. |

Thank you - I will work on it a bit. I thought the colors didn't look great due to the greyness of the day - and the b/w would be better due to the fog.

The cemetary - I took the angle due to the stuff in the background. Like was said - cemetary not really that visually great. Was out shooting leaves and such and tried to incorporate. From my eye (no camera) I thought there was some way to "work" that shot. Will have to try it again with the sky. |
