I am looking to buy a hard case for storage and transportation of my 10D.

I am seriously looking to get the Pelican 1520 case w/ travel bag (//www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=112290&is=REG) But I am unsure if it will be big enough to suit my needs, I would like it to hold my 10d (with battery grip attached), 17-40L, 50mm, 580EX, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, Sigma 105mm Macro, TC-80N3 remote, and various filters/CF cards/lens hoods.

Since there isn't a store around here I have no way of testing it out or really getting a good feel for how big it is. Does anyone here have one of these cases or could recommend a different model/product?

Thanks!

I'd be interested in hearing about that too.

I am in the Houston area and the camera store I frequent just said to bring in my gear and we would lay it out on the counter and see if it fit. I have the 300D with grip and the Pelican cases I saw did not appear deep enough. I am going back for a hard case and will let you know. Good luck

visioblanco foctornick i am using the pelican 1650 casing and it is easily best investment for your equipment of photographic nature and lighting equipment too! please to look it up information online on their respective website to see what size it can hold:

Unbreakable, watertight, dustproof, chemical resistant and corrosion proof. These are some of the features of this Pelican Protector Caseâ„¢ that offers total protection for your equipment. It is made of Ultra High Impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. Its exclusive 1/4" (6.4 mm) neoprene o-ring and ABS latches seal perfectly and includes an automatic purge valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure. Your equipment can fit into the high density foam or padded dividers for total subjection and protection against impact, vibration or shock. A nameplate (included) can be personalized (engraved at additional cost).

Sound good yes? I hope you enjoy much, thank you!

I know you were asking about size, but I have to thow in my own endorsement: I travelled all over Asia for a year with my Fuji FinePix (and accessories) in one of the smaller Pelican cases. I sat on it, I stood on it, I used it to level a bed in Beijing, I hiked miles in the rain in Xiamen, used it as a pillow in -30 temps in Mongolia, I did everything to it except throw it in the water and it took everything in stride.

One thing I did do that might be useful is I taped a business card to the interior of the case underneath the foam. I figure that most folks won't know it's there, but if I needed to prove that it was mine, that would come in handy.

I recently bought 3 Pelican 1650 cases for some measurement equipment at work. I went about sizing them this way. I laid out the footprint of the case in tape on the floor using the INTERNAL dimensions. Then I tried to get all my equipment to fit within that footprint, making sure that nothing sat higher than the INTERNAL height dimension. If you can't make it fit reasonably, then you should probably look at a bigger case or multiple cases.

BTW, I ordered mine from Cases4Less.com I was quite happy with their prices and service.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm still gonna look through some newsgroups/forums but at this point, I believe that the Pelican 1550 case would suit my needs. I'll probably go with the padded dividers as opposed to the foam. I'll let you know how it works out and post some photos when it arrives.
