Took this picture 10/31/2004 the sky was blue and the sun was behind me. There was a small amount of haze in the air but when I looked at the picture after getting home the haze was enhanced and the sky was burned. What could be the problem or what did I do wrong? Comments would be helpful, thanks in advance.

Don't know much about the camera, but if it was set to auto-exposure, it may have exposed for the darker parts of the forest, as opposed to the sky.

Digital camera sensors (and other photographic materials - slides, negative film) can only capture so much in dynamic range. The dynamic range in the scene seems to be greater than what the camera sensor could capture.

One solution is to use a graduated ND filter to bring the scenes range within the range of the camera (or at least closer to it). If the sky isn't completely blown then you can use the burn tool to bring back the detail. If it is completely white (all RGB values are 255) there's nothing there to burn back.

Another is to take two exposures, one for the sky, and one for the foreground trees and then merge the two images in editing software.

Another option being to crop the heck out of it and call it a day (if your cameras resolution will suffice).
