I have heard that a circular polarizer will help with the purple fringing and CA. I was wondering if anyone has a chance to try this before I invest in a good polarizer.

Actually it seems that a circular polarizer will create purple fringing under the correct conditions.

I believe that a circ. polarizer could, theoretically, either increase or decrease CA and/or purple fringing depending on how it is used. I'm certain that it's benefits would be camera/lens specific. My guess is that it will be difficult to find useful info on this subject. You might try asking your question on the Sony Talk forum at DPReview.com. Your best option may be to get one and experiment for yourself.

On our recent vacation I used the circular polarizer on most shots and it did help but not 100% in some shots.

Check out this article:

Correcting Chromatic Aberrations With Adobe Photoshop

If you are using RAW mode Photoshop RAW has adjustments for this.

BINGO! Thankyou very much, problem solved. That link showed me how to fix my problem and I could even save it as a custom setting after I got the results I wanted. Now it is even easier to get rid of that dreaded Purple. I dont get it very often but when I do it is usually on a photo that is a keeper. Thax again.
