I love my Sony.

I strongly agree with everything that has been said thus far so I won't rehash all of it but I do want to point out a couple of things that I didn't see.

#1: That extra MP is worth it for me. I print out a lot of my photos and the quality is wonderful. Even getting as large as 8x10 the prints are near perfect (I use a Canon photo printer). A lot of my friends have a hard time believing some of the prints are just that.

#2: The swiveling viewfinder is a back-saver! Taking a photo like thiswith a traditional camera would not be fun. With the 707 I just swiveled the lens so I could look in the viewfinder while the lens pointed straight up. Easy peasy Japanesey.

I've never had any experience with the G3 so of course, I'm biased, but I really can't think of any negative experiences I've had with my cam.

I have a Canon Pro 90 is (for sale) and now I have the Sony f707. The CAnon was supposed to be similar to the G1's and the rest of the G series, but I can tell you that I love this sony so much more than the Canon...although it isn't the G3.. I'll never go back to a Canon. I don't have any of my sony pics posted publicly yet, but will as soon as I have some time. I don't know how the low light photos are on the G3, but they're really good.

I read about an issue reported by Sony in Oct 2002 about AF issue:
"Initial production of Sony's DSC-F717 Cyber-shot digital still cameras have displayed inaccurate focusing under certain limited conditions. These conditions include ambient light low enough to activate the Hologram AF, at short distances, and higher zoom settings."
If"

Was this issue finally fixed by Sony?

I sent my F717 back to Sony to be fixed. Got it back in 3 days. The problem is fixed in all the cameras that don't have the Serial Numbers posted in the recall. :)
