were your puffins ok? The Farne islands have had really bad weather, and it's possible that chicks have drowned. :(
How close were you? Did you have to zoom in all the way? Did you use a tele-extender?
I'm going to see puffins in 2 days!!!! (if we can get there!) |

The puffins on Skomer were absolutely fine. The weather was superb though I personally would rather have had it cloudy.
The puffins were walking around my feet literally. For the flight shots I prob had to zoom the whole way to fill the frame.
I would highly recommend Skomer island for anyone seeking puffin photography in the UK.
Good luck with your puffin shoot. It is an amazing sight and a privilege to experience. |

Paul, you surprise me. I have no problems catching puffins in flight as you can see from examples below.

I'm telling you that when I went to the ONLY island that you can land on in the US Machias Seal Island - it was beyond all of my expectations!!! I shot over 2K picture in about 2 hours...totally amazing and totally worth every penny for the tour.
I'm glad you had a great experience...I swear although that the Puffins are them most unskilled bird at landings!!!! Kind of a "ahhhhhhh incoming MOVE IT"!!!! |
