I wanted to photograph a train and not just any train or location would do -- so I had the perfect spot picked out where I could get the train right as it was coming in as if it were headed right for me.

I parked in a nice little parking spot and set up my tripod and rested against the railing in wait for the train to come. Well, to make a long story short, two hours later I decided that trains must not come on Saturdays so I packed up and left. I get about thirty yards down the road and then I hear the loud whistle of the train and sure enough there it goes blows right by me. Of course I had to sit and wait for what felt like ten minutes for the dang thing to finish going over the street laughing at me the whole time!

So, I learned that once you already waited somewhere for two hours, nothing should make you leave -- bring a sleeping bag and a tent if you have to!

Did you make note of the time?

Most trains run on more-or-less regular schedules.

Murphy's Law just zapped you. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
