I have the Canon RC1, which was working nicely last night during the eclipse.
However, I wanted to turn it off, and I can't find my manual. Yes, doesn't that sound stupid. ;)
There's a three way switch, with icons I don't understand. L, a dot, and 2. What do they mean! (I got this recently, never read the manual, and now I can't find it!)
I looked online and couldn't find the manual either. If there's a link to one either online or PDF, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks! |

Rebel Manual Clickitty Click
It's under Product User Guides and Manuals
Unless you're looking for the remote's manual...

Does anybody know if the RC1 will work with the 20D? |

Yes, I have the rebel manual--I need to know the switch settings on the remote. It's not in the rebel manual.
Thanks anyway. Anyone know the settings or have a link to the manual?

...[it] may be set for either instant shutter release or 2-sec. delay. It may also be used to activate mirror lock and bulb shutter function.

did you buy it locally?
if so - just call the shop and ask them to photocopy it for you.
or just ask them to read off the button commands over the phone.
you could say your's didn't come with a manual.
it will shut off when the battery dies...

No, I bought it from Amazon.
I'm guessing the "dot" is off based on what giega said. The "L" must mean lockup. The 2 clearly must mean 2 second delay.
Thanks. |

L = Lock or Off
Dot = Instant trigger
2 = 2 sec delay

The specs on any of the review sites should tell you this. I suspect it uses the same remote as the 10D so the RC1 will not work.

heya nshapiro...L is 'off' ...dot is instant shutter trip...2 is the 2second shutter delay...
digistoune...no, unfortunately neither of canon's two tiny wireless remote models work on the 20d...your options are canon's wired remotes which are actually really good 2 step shutter trippers....the very very pricey wireless unit from canon for the 20d/10d, etc....and ebay has some cheaper wireless alternatives at about a 1/4 of the price of Canon's ($150 compared to $500)... |
