In honor of the "poverty" challenge and considering it's so close to Christmas, I think it'd be amazing if the DPC crowd could pull together and send Christmas Shoe Boxes.

I don't know how anyone could see those photos of children living in dumps and not want to do SOMETHING...ANYTHING to make their life a wee bit better.

Here's the link for Samaritan's Purse (Billy Graham's foundation I believe) they're across North America as far as I know. This doesn't have to be a huge collaboration but if each member (and non-member) sent a shoe box (could cost as little as $5) just think of the impact.

As one who has made shoeboxes and delivered them, I can personally testify to the joy they bring. It would indeed be an honorable cause.

One request:

If you send a box, please, please, please include a short note about you and a picture. It was amazing how valuable these were, and how treasured. Perhaps the most of anything in the whole box.
