There has been a lot of talk about the longevity of digital photographs, the concern being that both the media and the file format might not last for very long.
I thought I would look back in my archives and see what my oldest digital photo was. For me this goes make to November of 1991, the photo was a standard print that I scanned at that time and saved on my hard drive. That hard drive went obsolete but I kept it around and transferred it to CD in 1998, a drive from 1991 could pretty much fit onto one CD.
The photo format was a BMP, no compression and a pretty large file for the size of the image, but it read right into PE. Not too bad for a photo that was digitized 13 years ago.
Does anyone have a digital image that is older then 13 years old?, we are not talking about how old the photo or negative is but how long ago the file was created.

| I was working on expert systems and paperless technical document support systems in the 80's--I digitized lots of technical photos then, but none of my own! |

My earliest experiences were using 'frame grabbers' from video cameras about 1991-92 time frame.
My oldest still frame camera was made in 1995 (Kodak/Nikon DCS460 SLR) and it is my best digital camera.
