From the advanced rules:
Your entry must come from a single photograph, taken during the specified challenge timeframe. You may not post-process your entry from or to include elements of multiple images, multiple exposures, clip art, computer-rendered images, or elements from other photographs
I am a little confused. I'd like to know if multiple shots combined into a single photo IN CAMERA are allowed or no. I mean when you press the shutter twice, but the camera only output 1 single picture. Multiple exposures done by the camera (ie not the manual way) seems to fall into this category. However, according to the rules, I am not sure if this is allowed.
note: my interrogation is not limited to multiple exposures, but to all "multi-shoot to single image" done in camera. |

I believe multiple exposures means taking 3 or 4 snapshots and overlaying them In Photoshop or a similar application to smooth a picture out.
A multiple in-camera exposure should be fine according to all rules in place. Anything the camera can do all by itself is always allowed, no?

I think multiple exposures means you can't have the shutter open and close more than once. Everything must be captured in one click. To circumvent this, you can set a long exposure and manually cover and uncover the lens as many times as needed to simulate "multiple exposures," all in one shutter actuation.

Anything done in-camera is permitted, which includes multiple exposures for some cameras (eg some of the Fuji range, ISTR), or long exposures that emulate multiple exposures. Any image combination done in post-processing isn't permitted.

The othe option is doing multiple exposures with light. For example a long exposure and selectively light what you want. My Night shots entry was done like this, and I had to have it varified probably as someone thought it was multiple exposures.

From the rules:
Any modification done inside the digital camera itself is considered acceptable for challenge submission.

I think once technology catches up and they are able to run Photoshop or other photomanipulation software directly in camera, the rules will have to be revamped.
