Hi ya Mel..

Been there 2 days as a tester, up loaded 12 photos and 1 sold straight away so I up loaded a few extra and just now the server has come back up and a couple more have sold.

Its great to see some movement for a small amount of photos that I have uploaded.

I uploaded 6 photos 4 days ago, and have made £3.60

All of my files are in the most downloaded list, including positions 1 and 3 !!! I love this site so much I added it as my signature (but that̢۪s blatant profiteering more than anything!)

Can't we be jealous of talent? : )

My downloads are just trickling in, but it's sure better than nothing. Mostly I've been posting old shots I thought suitable (about 15 so far), but I'm now looking around for stock photo-ops as kind of an ongoing challenge topic.

So far I've had pretty good success at picking photos which will get approved, if not be runaway sellers, although I suspect as the library increases in size it may take better shots to get in.

Note to Jon:

DPC has a trademark on the term *poof* to denote immediate implementation of user-suggested site improvements.

However, if you guys keep it up (I just saw the announcement about the FTP server address) we're going to have to come up with an equally engaging term for you. Thanks!

By the way, if I were you I would make the case that you deserve a lot of 'referer' credits.

I think there are several users here who wouldn't know about shutterstock if it weren't for you...you could've already earned 6 cents from me!

I'll vouch for you if you'd like to pitch the idea to Jon at shutterstock...I'm sure others would as well!

Edit: Oh, and thanks for letting us know!

I don't have many uploaded anywhere, but surprisingly, I have sold 14 of this one on iStock:

Colors of Fall

I Learnt about them through this post also.
I have made a Whopping $!.20 in the last week !!
Am currently researching how to make a couple of cheap but professional looking soft boxes, then I have talked to a couple of colleges about setting up a bunch of pictures to submit. First I need the lights.

Has anyone had experience with this. What should I offer them.
A % of the earnings, Or offer to take them to lunch (Could be more expensive than what I make). I am looking at getting 3 people for an hour or so one evening. (An hour or so will probably turn out to be 10 from my experience)

I dont have any people I can shoot for the 'business people' theme that seems to sell so well so I've been struggling to get good stock images. It's harder than I thought, that's for sure. I've also not yet perfected that perfectly bright white background thing yet either. I have about 11 images downloaded from shutterstock so far.

How to create a "close to" or perfect white BG.....

1- find a white BG. :-)
2- have a couple of spots behind the subject shining on the white BG.
3- Overexpose slightly

In PS go to LEVELS and chose the white eyedrop and click on the darkest area of the BG. See your BG become very white. IF your subject is overex after, reajust curves or levels.

Why would you sell the same photo on iStockphoto that you are selling through DPCPrints? Aren't you undercutting yourself?
