#1 When I see a picture and the people or whatever is in the background is very blurry, what function makes that happen on the camera? Is that the Macro function?
#2 I have attempted to use the macro function, but I don't think I am using it right, what is it supposed to do?
Thank you |

1. the focal range does that. if the people are 10m away from you, but your focusing 4m from you, they will be blurry. you have to set you dof.
2. macro means its going to focus on something close (usually anywhere between 5-50cm, depending on the camera). read about how your macro works, where the sweet spot is, and try it again. if you want to see some good macro shots, go here: //www.dpchallenge.com/profile.php?USER_ID=2716 |

DOF means "depth of field", the depth of field is a measurement. It's the distance that is in focus. So a shallow or short depth of field means that one thing e.g. the foreground, is in focus, while the background is out of focus. A long depth of field means that everything's in focus.
For a basic camera book, try Michael Langford's Basic Photography. It's not 100% geared towards digital, but it does have a chapter in digital photography. It might be more suitable if you were using an SLR or DSLR... but take a look at it anyway |
