I am trying to fit the lenshood on the 18-70 lens, but it seems to stay loose. If I am correct the "-o" marking should have the "o" part alligned with the white dot? At least it does so on my AF-S 70-200 VR (has a lock button, very easy).
But on the 18-70 I cannot get it past the "-" marking, even when I use a lot of force (relatively). So now it seems to be loose and not properly aligned with the lens.
How does yours allign? Do you need to use a lot of force (the first time)?

You need to place it on close to the correct alignment and twist to lock.
When first placed on looking into the lense it should be aligned at about 11 O clock and twist and lock at 12 O clock. This does appear to be a lot of force the first time but its not really its just that we do it a little slower than we would normally.

Okay, thanks. I'll try in a minute. If it doesn't work I'll get my Stanley and cut the lock thingies of the hood a bit. :)
