Ive got issues. I took my 20d to my brothers hockey game. All went well. ISO 1600 is awesome. But I've also got some issues. I get this weird thing in some of my pictures where half of the image (more or less) turns reddish. Here are some examples.

THE BAD:

//www.freewebs.com/hsteg/IMG%5F0151b.jpg
//www.freewebs.com/hsteg/IMG%5F0168b.jpg

THE GOOD: (didnt appear in these images)

//www.freewebs.com/hsteg/IMG%5F0120g.jpg

All shots are straight out of the camera, just resized. In the beginning of the game I had it on AWB and then I switched to florescent. (sp?)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
EDIT: im getting red x's for my images so i replaced them with links.

Either it's my computer or your links do not appear to be working.

They don't work for me either but you can copy and past the links into the browser and then they work.

so did the reddishness appear before or after you switch white balances or are they intermingled? If they are intermingled was there a red light flashing somewhere by the goals or something?

intermingled. It might have been the lights. There were some bulbs slightly redder than others, but nothing like what you see in the images.

It appears to me that the images that have the redness in them all are by the goal. The ones that don't have the redness in them appear to be in a different location in the arena. This makes me believe that there were different temps of light in the arena. Maybe not different enough to make the brain (remember we 'see' white the same in different light conditions) see it but different enough that the camera's sensor picks it up...

I'm on the same page as TooCool. I've seen them mix different halide bulbs to make a more visually pleasant lighting setup, however, when they mix bulbs that are predominantly sodioum (orange color) with other halides, (can be bluish to whitish), the result can be camera hell if the coverage does not overlap suficiently. I think you may be seeing this.
It's pretty easy to correct in PS:
- Load photo, enter quickmask mode (hit the Q key)
- Activate the gradient tool, create a greadient across the transition from reddish to not-reddish area
- Exit quickmask mode (Q again)
- Open curves, select red channel
- Drag curve for red channel down in the middle until things look OK.
- Done
