Last weekend, in Montreal, my wife and I were walking by a building when a cable broke on a window-washer platform due to high winds. It kept smashing into the building, breaking windows and sending glass flying.

Next time I bump into a situation like this and I take some photos I believe are newsworthy, what do I do with them? What have you guys/gals done in this situation? Any tips?

Call the local news station and/or paper and tell them what took place. Let them know you have pictures if they'd like to run a story on it.
