I tried the Image Hosting site that you use (after getting a blast for posting full size photo's). The only problem I have with the site is the thumbnails are square and they squash up the photo's. (check out the lion thread lol) I might email their sysop and see if he can allow for images that are not square. What do you think?

Might I suggest a Blog???its cheap and they usually give you a lot of space. I think something like 1gig for like $10-$30 plus your domain name and I believe 4 or 5 email addy's

//www.dpportfolio.com

It's run by a dpc-er and the thumbs work fine. Or //www.photobucket.com They easily give you the link for thumbs.

I guess you're talking about picture blogs here rather than text? Can you make any recommendations?

Actually I am talking with domain direct right now to see if I can't strike a deal for people on dpchallenge. I have one thru them but they aren't on sale YET so I will see what I can do.

Http://www.domaindirect.com is saying about $30/year....including domain, and 1 email account (also 10 email forwards, which are pretty much as good) forwarding...urlkeeper...subdomain forwarding, and a bunch of other crap.

Cool.

I have suitable hosting, I was wondering if it was a complete service. I might try and find some perl/php to do it for me..

I'm always wary of photo hosting mentioning clauses like:

"Fotopages claims no ownership rights in any image contained in any of your photologs. Please note, however, that when you share a photolog, you allow the recipients of that photolog to share and make photographic prints from the images contained in that photolog. For the sole purpose of displaying your images through your Fotopages photolog, and fulfilling any orders you or your photolog viewers place, you grant to Fotopages a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, distribute, and display those images."

The Photo Hosting one I mention doesn't contain no clause like you mentioned! - and if the picture is under 1mb people can't create good quality prints:

Check the site and tell me if u can find the small print you mentioned?

I found a solution to the problem
Create a folder called "Thumbnails" then reduce your main picture to 125px across, Then save again and upload to thumbnail folder

doesn't take long to do and itz worth the small effort cause thatz the only problem I see with the site - the thumbnails My dog

My cat

This site looks nice, but I was there for only a couple minutes and I was already receiving page load errors.

I am very wary of FREE sites.
I got messed about 3 times already.
Club Photo, was free, then Decided to Charge.
PBase was free, then decided to charge
Infologic wass free, and disappeared overnight with the photos.
Therefore think twice if you can afford a good reliable hosting site like pbase.

Sorry, I see you wanted to host pages, not just images. Still, try doing a search for "hosting" and you should find several threads with suggestions.

I have had my dog's (free) website, with 20MB, at Angelfire/Lycos for years with no problems.
