I really thought my submission was gonna do better....but c'est la vie! Anyway, here are some of the outtakes. What do you think? Would this have done better?

The lightest parts of a photo attract the eye, so your background is stealing some of your subjects limelight.

Some suggestions for this: if you have enough resolution, you might consider cropping tightly to the head, eliminating the background but focusing on the paw over the eyes. Then you can adjust levels on the photo so the lighting is a bit better than just shade. If it can be done in a manner that retains sharpness without being oversharpened, you have a wonderful, humorous shot!
