If you are asking for honest opinion than I´ll have to say that I dont find any visual interest or orginality in your image visaken so I´m not very surprized bye your rating in this challenge. But keep on experimenting and good luck.

It meets the challenge and is well taken, but I agree with Garlic. I don't find it interesting or attractive. I'd say it scored about right.

I am trying to put up a thumb

You suceeded!

Your image however, as others have pointed out, just does not seem to have a point of interest to it. There is nothing for the eyes to land on and say 'this is the subject'. The eyes just sort of wander around aimlessly.

Well taken technically as far as exposure and such, but it just doesn't have anything else -- slant the lines to flow at a diagonal, or to a vanishing point further on, but just straight on did not work that well.

To me, its just not 'winner material'. If you are trying to win, go back and look over the challenge archives and see what sort of image wins. This is very abstract and if you like it, thats all that matters!! :o)

Although I agree with previous posts, I'm wondering if this is good stock material...I could see it being used in marketing/advertising.

I gave it a 4 .. sorry..didn't really like it. But it was sharp and had nice color, so it got 4.

The white and yellow framing of the composition brings your eyes toward the pleats. Unfortunately, this is not the most interesting subject to bring the viewers eyes to. Maybe more context of the whole subject would've added something. Gave a "5" for the sharp image.

What do I know, you beat me.Lol.

I think it is at least allright photo. But as have been said it isn't realy interesting. It is difficult to understand what it is and I even don't understand the title properly.

But you can look at it in other way. Those voters giving a comment gave you on average 8.25 and on that scale it seems to me you were number 10!

In good news, it was your best score by over half a point. You did better than almost half the shots in a HUGE challenge, and you almost got your first 5. Keep workin on it. YOu'll get there.

Personally I didn't think it was "winner" material however I liked it enough to give it a 6 so I thought it was pretty good :)

I think it deserved better, personally.

One thought: IMHO it might capture more interest with an asymmetrical vertical crop, maybe 2/3 yellow, 1/3 white.

yes nshapiro I have one with that - but my daughter think this one was best

I didn't vote in the challenge but I probably would have given it about a 6. It's my style of picture and I actually like it allot. I will say, though, that the thumbnail doesn't look as appealing as the full size photo.

You picture was almost abstract. Your title in this case may have under rated your photograph because it was telling voters "accordion indicator" but most just could not correlate the two. Even though I have seen a lot of buses joined this way I did not recognize it in your photograph. And when you put in the description what is it, we can̢۪t see it until the challenge is over. This is just my opinion

Is the tittle a part of the picture ?
the challenge was to bring a part of something - and that was what I did !
why is it impontant to tell what it is ?

1) The title is not part of the picture, but it is part of the work (just like the border or frame or mount).

2) Yes, you took a photo of a part of something. It was an okay photo and it scored just below 5...an average score.

3) It's not necessary to tell what it is, but it would have allowed the viewer to fully appreciate what they were looking at...rather than treating it as an abstract image.

Edit: I should add that I personally didn't vote on this challenge, but I would have scored this a 5 or 6.

In the other thread about this picture there was another one mentioned, stating that in the author's opinion it was severely underrated:

According to a research i have seen that studied appeal of various images to a lot of people across the world, the most universally rejected image was an abstract in red tones. The most universally accepted: a pastoral landscape in blue-green tones, with a water body and mountains, with local variations by country.

Just a couple of cents.
