While I am pretty happy with my score, I was expecting maybe a little higher. I was suprised at the number of 2,3,4 votes. they almost out number the 8 and 9's. Could someone take a look and see why it might have scored so low to some voters? To me, it was on topic, in focus, and extremely technical in nature. Maybe a response from a low voter as to why you thought it was low, so that I can improve next time. THANKS!

I actually think your 5.68 is pretty good for an astrophoto. I am also an astrophotographer, but I have not submitted any such shots for challenges here. My experience has been that the average non-astro-photographer is pretty easily wowed by good shots, but that they never do exceptionally well in challenges. The typical moon-shot is more or less on par with a typical terrestial snap - may be a fine photo, but unless it nails the challenge head on, it won't score high.
Just my take, others may have different opinions.
For my own take on a astro theme shot for a challenge, see my "hope" entry from a month or so ago. |

Well said, strangeghost...the image below does 'wow' me, but only in a documentary sense. It doesn't do much for me photographically.
Another example of this would be a photo of severe hurricane damage. "Wow"...but not necessarily a great photograph in and of itself.
All of this is my opinion only... |
