My August 25, 2016 purchase qualified for a September 8 shipment. Those who buy today will experience shipping pushed back until after October 31.

I toyed with pushing the button early yesterday, in fact I called Midwest Photo to ask about their queue depth, and it seemed I could still probably get in on the first shipment. In the end, I decided to hold off and wait for some reliable information on sensor performance. If I decide to jump, November timing is pretty good for me. I've got a trip coming up in late January that I would want it in hand for.

ETA: Richard, I'm really looking forward to your assessment.

Specs of the 5D IV looks great, but not enough (at least for me) for the extra costs Canon asks for this.

Since I've been out of the details for a while, I'd be interested in how the Sony is light years ahead? I've always thought that mirrorless was still having issues with noise (especially low light). But perhaps I'm wrong.

The low light capabilities of the Sony A7 series is quite astonishing (particularly the A7s). There are lot of threads on this topic already, but I don't think the newer mirrorless camera systems are having too much trouble these days with excessive noise

Last I knew Nikon had even taken to using Sony sensors because they are just really really good.

Are you really going to take a better photo by upgrading? Something to think about. If you need something to spend money on, buy "L" lenses. At least 4 years from now the glass will still be worth almost what you paid for if not the same. When Canon upgrades again,Your used &3500 Mark IV will be worth very little compared to the glass. Bodies come and go.Good glass is forever and actually helps to improve your images. I've been coming here a long time. I've seen people here produce breath-taking images with every camera body thats been on the market since 2004 or 2005.

Sony A7S and Sony A7SII are by the best cameras in low light conditions, especially in video. I was shooting a video during a wedding yesterday and I had no problems at all shooting the last scenes at 25K ISO.

Hmm, ok. I'm not as interested in video. I'll have to see the comparisons when the Mark IV comes out. I like the idea of pounds less of gear when hiking, but I'm not sure how Sony magically takes a smaller sensor and makes noise a non-issue. Physics are physics.

Sony A7 cameras (A7II, A7RII and A7SII) are full frame :)

ETA: Sony cameras have also stabilized sensor and the chance to mount EVERY kind of old vintage lenses (having them as stabilized ones, of course).

I posted this in a different thread, but check this out.

Sony A7sII video via a drone shot at 25,600 ISO. Pretty impressive

Well, I'm all in. B+H showed in stock for body-only this afternoon, went ahead and jumped on it. Should see it late Wednesday. Woot!
