This was my submission for the Back light challenge. I really liked this photo quite a bit, although it finished in the middle of the pack:

This was an alternate. My daughter thought this is the one I should have submitted. Would it have made a difference??

I definately like the overall feeling in the first one best! Very nice graphic feel

I like them both. They are excellent images of everyday objects made interesting by good composition and interesting lighting. I particularly like the second shot, due to the unconventional point of view.

Sorry.
Your daughter is right. The alternate offers a much more interesting perspective. The angle gives the picture more depth and isn't so flat as the other. The different angle creates more interest and the light sculpts the subject better.
The second one definately would have been my pick.

Regards,
Randy.

I like the 2nd one better, however I do not like the varying colors. But this is fairly easily fixed by changing it to b/w and then picking your monotone color after that.

Thanks everyone, looks like I may need to listen to Smartypants next time. Bump for anyone on the day-crew.
