This is another one of those how much to charge threads but I need some help.
I was contacted by a woman who wants product photos for her website. I did a test photo for her because she wanted to see the quality (she previously had them done in a studio and then scanned and wasn't happy with the outcome). She was satisfied and wants to know how much I'd charge. So how much would I charge? It's pretty simple stuff, picture frames, on a white background which I'm editing to be flat white. I've read quite a few posts here on the horrors of underselling yourself, but I'd also like to keep the job. How does this work? |

However you end up pricing it, I suggest you set it at the higher end of the range you're considering, but offer a 10-20% "first-time customer" discount so you condition them to a more reasonable charge in the future.
Make sure you have a written contract -- in this case, SHE would probably own the copyright to all the photos (as "work for hire") unless you write it up carefully.
I suggest looking for a book on the subject at Nolo Press -- I'm pretty sure they have books covering this (often including forms) which cost less than 1/2 hour of an attorney's time. |

I actually have the attorney built in here so I'm good on that part. The discount is a good idea.
Anyone have any help on actual prices? |
