and I would like to revisit a concept I thought might be cool.

a 24 hour challenge with no editing rules except one. You can combine images into one to create an illusion. The only rule is you cannot render or digitally create elements of the shot. This would of course rule out added text. You CAN combine in anyway you wish any photos or elements from photos taken during the challenge period.

In order to make this a fair competition it would be announced ahead of the challenge period. This would allow all participants an equal opportunity to plan, prepare, gather props and practice any lacking skills needed!

I also propose that the perfect theme for this challenge would be (drum roll please) HALLOWEEN! All cultures that I know of have a holiday of some sort similar to Halloween wich would make it a culturaly fair (if the wrong time of year) challenge.

Or in other words, I propose the MOAHC (a made up word meaning the 'mother of all Halloween challenges')!

Even though us sophisticated Aussies don't celebrate halloween I'm in. I like all things gross.

We don't really celebrate it in the UK either, except a few kids running around wanting sweets, so I think a better challenge would be 'Horror' which would make it more worldwide :)

In Poland we don't celebrate Haloween either. But the 1st of November is special. The cementaries are full of lights and there is maginificent atmosphere. I wouldn't call it a "Horror", it's rather "Rememberance". Of course the topic doesn't really matter. "Haloween", "Horror" or "Sadness" - anyone will do. Those who don't celebrate Haloween simply won't compete as their shots may be treated as "off topic". We don't have to participate in every single challenge, do we?

Could have it be Horror movies or Horror movie posters or something of that irk. I know in the UK there are a lot of anti-halloween people out there who believe it is akin to devil worshipping so it may not be that global a theme.

As for the editing... it would be more difficult to seamlessly combine multiple images into one image without some kind of digital addition to blend the elements.

Also, as the past has proven, asking for specific speed challenges around specific holidays are not normally answered as they are considered predictable and defeat the purpose of the speed aspect of the challenge.

However, asking for speed challenges around the holidays makes sense for the site owners, as people are likely to buy prints that have been in holiday-themed challenges.
It has also seemed churlish to decide against challenges because people have asked for them. I think this site should work more democratically.

Over here in Devil fearing UK, the festival is the eve of All Souls Day...Halloween/trick or treat was imported from USA.

Contrary to popular belief we are not still stuck with Witch Hunters and devil worship, in fact, we are probably the most tolerant nation in respect of religious beliefs. We have thriving communities of Pagan, Wiccans, Druids, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, Judasism, etc.

Why not make it a simple speed challenge and see who can photograph the best made-up kids who call at the door that night!
