Hi! I'm gonna use an external flash for the first time in the next few weeks shooting an exposition for my boss. I'm wondering what are the advantage over a built-in flash. what are the key features of an external flash, will the camera automatically recognize the flash and the power of it and how to get the best out of it. For information, this is the flash I'm going to use on a Sony DSC-F828. (yes, I work for a Sony dealer)
Thanks for reply. I know it's the right place to get this answer.

From a sony flash user(f1000 on a f717)... I always turn the flash power way up, bounce it directly to the ceiling (around 10 ft) and stop the cam down to like 4-6.3 and shutter around 100-400. I usually use manual. This seems to work great for me.

I'm thinking about ordering the HVLF32X flash. It comes with a cable to link to Sony cameras that don't have the acc flash mount.
The advantage of the external flash is that you can bounce it off the ceiling or a wall to not make strong shadows on your subject (especially portraits)
Question- Would it be better to mount an external flash above or on the side of the camera? I'm wondering which type of bracket to purchase with the flash. |
