I'll tell you as soon as your web hosting comes back up. Looks like your website is down. All I'm seeing is broken images.

Aha - MUCH better. I like this one a lot. Plenty of detail in the foreground flower. The background one is quite a bit brighter, though so you might consider either a fill-in flash to light the foreground as well or in this case I think you could achieve a similar effect by heading into photoshop and using the burn tool on the rear flower. Stick it on 15% and just burn it a little at a time. Try not to be too heavy handed with it. You might also consider dodging the front flower a little. Use of burn and dodge is a bit of an art form. Practice makes perfect.
Anyway I hope you can see that this is a MUCH more dramatic and interesting shot. There is a lot more depth to it. It almost feels like you could reach into your monitor and pick it up. WELL DONE on such a marked improvement.

You're doing well david. Keep experimenting with the light: angles, intensity etc. Some of the best advice I got was to learn to develop a sense of the background while shooting. Sometimes just moving a little bit this way or that way can eliminate distracting elements and really solidify the image. I know it sounds really basic but it truly is good advice. |

Better yes. I think you could dodge the front flower a touch more but it looks far better balanced even now.
