Quick question: is the crosshatch filter allowed in the advanced editing?

The answer is most likely, "Yes, it is allowed, provided the effect achieved does not violate any of the 'You may not...' rules within the rule set."

The rules tend not to prohibit specific effects or filters, they simply limit what you may or may not achieve as a result of implementing them. When in doubt, send a copy to the SC (see the Help menu) and check before submitting to avoid a DQ.
