Oh the joys of editing :-)

I thought I would post the out-of-camera shot from the Free Study

And the finished thing

I was, obviously, trying to do a 'heida' - though actually the processing is more complex than simply burning and dodging.

The real trick is to use a threshold to create a mask which can then be used to work on the sky and the ground separately - though it does require a deal of careful cloning to remove the 'join' - a strange white halo along the horizon line and the outline of the building. Some artefacts do remain from that, most noticeably on the underside of the most right-hand beam sticking out of the building. I just issed that in editing.

Just thought some people might be interested to see some of the process, and where I start from.

Oh - and would some others like to do the same on this thread? I think it would be good to see and read from Bobster and Jon and Brad, and many others, what their processes are, where they start from etc.

(yes I know Bobster has already put his original up somewhere)

Wow, that is a huge difference. I would have probably thrown away the original. Didn't know so much could be done!!
My PS skills are pretty basic up till now.

Here is my Original

And the Finnished product:

As you see they are almost identical.
Post processing was:
1. Levels for the colour.
2. Skew to get the window straight. (Couldn't get it perfect as I have never worked with that tool before).
3. Cloned out the edge problems after the skew process
4. (I don't know if I did an USM, maybe very light)
5. Post it.
