I don't know, these sort of websites make me feel yucky...are the girls who started it photographers? I'd love to have a look at their work. Maybe I'm a party pooper, but I just don't see the need to to get snarky/mean about actually people like the girls who started this website have. Making fun of other peoples decidedly bad work doesn't make your own work better.
I have to say though, some of it is so...interesting, it aspires to fine art levels. |
I have to admit that I do find the snarkasm a little too much at times. But all they're doing is calling attention to the obvious, that too many camera owners think that they are automatically photographers. Much in the same way that every pinkneck who bought a horse and stuck it in their backyard, set up round pens and began hanging out their shingle as a *horse trainer*.
Same mentality, different application.
NEWS FLASH!!! Owning a horse does NOT automatically make you a horse trainer. It makes you only a horse owner, and nothing more. Owning a DSLR does NOT automatically make you a professional photographer, though it makes you capable of becoming a professional photographer....if you choose to put in the time.
Sadly, lots of camera owners get 'OMG! That is such an awesome pic!' on social media, for the most mediocre of images, that is it any wonder that they actually start to believe it and set up shop on Facebook? Then wonder why they ended up on YANAP? |
